1) The character I am most similar to would have to be Smalls. Smalls is reluctant at first to go and play baseball wit the otehr boys. In the same way, i'm usually reluctant to try new things. However, Smalls tests his ability to put himself out there and experience new things, and it ends up being a great initiative that lead him to make some great friends. Similarily, when I took the initiative to try new clubs at Fremd, I ended up meeting some of my best friends. It's all about putting yourself out there, and trying out of the ordinary things.
2)The character that I have the most empathy for is Benny. He ends up being the scapegoat for the whole team when they blame him for why they don't have a baseball to play with anymore. Yet, he takes initiative and rallies all the members of the team to come up with a plan to retrieve Small's baseball.

1) The character I can identify most with in 'The Sandlot' would have to be Benny because sometimes responsibility is forced onto you when in a group, especially if everyone else has no clue what to do. This happens a lot when working on projects in groups at Fremd. Even if you don't want to, you have to step up and do whats right for you and the people around you.
2) The character that I have most empathy for is Smalls. He just moved to a new neighborhood with his mom and step-father and doesn't have anyone knew to hang out with. Eventually he does come across some kids his age but they aren't very welcoming and only make fun of him. In the end though, they all become best friends.

1. I think that I am most like Smalls because he seems to have a love for animals. When Hercules was stuck under the fence, all of the other boys wanted to run, but Smalls tried to lift the fence up for him. When he couldn't do it alone, he asked the other boys to help him, but they didn't. He said that they could not just leave him there because he was hurt. I also have this love for animals and do not like to see them hurt. We are also similar because we do not like to force people to do anything. In the beginning, Smalls asks his stepfather to play catch with him, but he says not now. Smalls does not want to inconvenience him so he just says it's ok. I would probably do the same thing in his situation.
2. I have the most empathy for Smalls too because he has just moved there and is not fitting in very well. His mother sees that he is not making friends, and she tries to get him to make some, but he is having a difficult time. Once he starts playing baseball, he has more fun, but they still make fun of him, except for Benny. Even by the end they still give him a hard time because he lost the ball that was signed by Babe Ruth. Even though they had become friends, they were not acting like friends to Smalls because they were not making him feel better. Out of all the people in the movie, I have the most empathy for Smalls.

1. the character i can most identify my self with is definitly benny. Benny is a leader. He looks out for everyone at the sandlot. Thats just his nature. He helps out Smalls when Smalls most needs him. Smalls has no idea how to play baseball. Benny realizes that and takes smalls under his wing and shows him the rops. I know i have done this before several times. Whether it be teaching my younger brother how to ride his bike or helping a friend with math homework. I always look out for the people in my life no matter what i hate to see people struggle just like benny. Benny also is a leader people look up to him. He takes control of a situation. I my self do this from time to time. Whether it be something as simple as planning a day out with my friends or family i enjoy taking control of a situation which usually turns out good in order to get things accomplished.
2. The character that I have the most empathy for would have to be Hercules. Not just because he is a super cute dog but because he has this horrible repuation and he can't even defend himself. If the guys knew how friendly he was it would have made everything a lot easier. It hurts to have a bad reputation and have no control of it and not be able to change it so i think my empathy for hercules comes from my being able to connect to him.

1)the character that i identify myself with would have to be Benny. Going along with what Meg said, about benny taking on alot of the responsiblity, i find my self in the same situation majority of the time. Whether its projects in class, or making plans with my friends, i am usually the one that comes up with the plan to get it all accomplished.
2) the character i ahve the most empathy for would be smalls. He is the new kid in town and cant seem to find his spot just yet. Even when he comes across a group of boys to hang out with and play baseball, he has a hard time making a name for himself other than "the new kid".

1. I can identify myself with hercules, the dog. First off, everyone had a certain perception of him. From the begining, everyone thinks he's just crazy and mean. However, at the end, they realized he was completly the opposite. It's almost like judging a book by it's cover. Our perception is often distorted. I feel as if some people may see me differently when they actually get to know me, opposed to popular opinion.
2. I have the most empathy for is Smalls because no one really understands him. He's new and isn't used to their way, making him the one they kind of make fun of. He makes some mistakes trying to fit in, which we all have done. He's the one that has to learn the most.

The character that I think i am most similar to in the movie would have to be Smalls. Smalls started off shy being around the kids and once they became friends he was more loud and open and thats how I am too with my friends. I have most empathy for the dog. Everyone makes up and believes that the dog is horrible and the dog cant even show them that he isnt horrible because they wont give him a chance.

I cannot identify with any of the movie's characters. I am not athletic, friendly, charismatic, brazenly stupid, determined, appealingly adorable, outright mean, or sexy and aloof, and I hate animals and playing or watching sports. I am nothing like any character from the film.

I have the most empathy for the old man who owned Hercules. That poor man is not only blind, but misunderstood by the foolish village children. Furthermore, he has to suffer through what was probably hours of loud noises and irritating kid-screaming before listening to his property being destroyed. If he had to pay for any veterinary bills for his dog, then I feel even more sorry for him.

1) I can identify myself the most to Scotty Smalls. He is a new kid to the town and doesn't know yet how to get along with other boys. I moved a lot too and I know how Smalls feels when he cannot express himself freely in front of new kids at the first time.

2) I feel the empathy to Smalls too. I really understand how he feels when he cannot get used to the new environment at first. As time goes by, he starts to find his place in the new environment with new friends, and finally, he becomes a neccesary person for ohter boys. I feel really releaved when he can get along with other kids and happy when I see his smiles he makes with other kids.

1) the character i can most identify myself with is the kid who's stepdad owned the ball. i can identify myself with him becausehe was determined to get the ball back no matter wha, and i think i wouldn't give up either if i was given that situation.
2) The character i have the most sympathy for is the old man who owned hercules. i had empathy for him because all of the kids were misjudging him even though he was just a nice old man.

1.The Character I am most similar to would have to be smalls. Like smalls, I moved a lot like once a year. So I know how he felt as a newbie. Awkward, shy,... something like that.

2.The cahracter that I have most empathy for is smalls. He tried to be their friend. but I think, I didn't try to be a friend with no one. I learned many things from smalls.

I would have to say I identify most with Yaya. Seemingly innocent and not the coolest kid he is surprisingly funny and audacious. I empathize most with Smalls, identifying with his ability to get him and his friends into deep trouble through a simple understanding.

I think, like a lot of other people, i could be considered as a Smalls. i dont really know how to act when im around people i dont know and smalls is the same way. when he went to the baseball park the first day, he tried to act cool. but then he finally started acting like himself when they got to know him better.

i have the empathy for Hercules because he is such a misunderstood character. everyone puts a label on him as a freakish monster when in the end all he needed was some petting. poor guy.
